Ladybird Nursery

Hello!

Ladybird Nursery is a friendly and nurturing place for your child to begin their school life.  Our provision is designed to help build and support the development of strong foundations for all children, ensuring they can succeed on their own unique learning journey.

Positive first experiences away from home are key to laying the foundations for a successful education. Our focus is always on your child’s wellbeing and enjoyment, because we know that happy, stimulated children excel.

Our aims:

  • Help children thrive and make progress in a nurturing and accepting environment.
  • Provide a high-quality curriculum that enables children to reach their expected milestones.
  • Support children’s physical, personal, social and emotional development and their communication and language skills, ensuring these are secure before children move to the next stage of their education. If they are not secure, children will be supported and guided with additional early interventions and external help.
  • Provide high quality staff interactions and environments supporting the development needs of all children.
  • Develop strong relationships with parents. Understanding a child’s family’s experiences is crucial to providing the right support for the child and their family.

What makes Ladybird Nursery special?

  • Improved outcomes for children and families.
  • Children are more confident, ready to access the next phase of their development and meet expected standards, within their personal journeys.
  • Strong relationships established with the school as the children transition to Reception. The children attending Ladybird Nursery are already familiar with the school, daily routines, staff and the environments. As a school-based Nursery, children move up to Reception feeling secure within their relationships. Children have already developed strong friendships during their pre-school year and carry these friendships with them.
  • As part of our transition, children are supported to access different areas of the school to increase familiarity. Families feel connected to the school from the beginning of their child’s journey, not just at the start of Reception.

Meet the teachers

My name is Miss Lucy James

I am excited to be the class teacher of Willow Class and Ladybird nursery. I have worked at Clutton for 10 years and I throughly enjoy helping children start their journey into education. I am very bubbly, friendly, approachable and nurturing.

I am very passionate about early language and reading development. I have a flair for the dramatics and can often be found singing and dancing around the classroom. I am also a huge animal lover and will often share stories about my cat Timmy.

Outdoor learning is very important at Clutton and we often go outside to explore nature, observe seasons, hunt for insects and create transient art.

I look forward to meeting you!

My name is Ms Honor Matthias

I am the teaching assistant of Ladybird Nursery and Willow Class. I have been working in the school for 12 years in various roles, but my passion has always been Early Years. I am encouraging, caring and supportive and I can honestly say that I love my job. I am very family orientated and I only want the best for the children in my care. I love seeing them flourish throughout each stage of their learning journey. I have three children and we love going to watch Manchester City matches as a family. I look forward to playing football with the children and showing off my skills.
